Privacy

This page says what RealEstateAI collects and why, in the order it actually happens. There is no cookie banner: Australian law does not require one, and a banner that everybody clicks through is not consent. The switch is at the bottom of this page and it works.

What we count ourselves

Every page view, search and listing you open is recorded in our own database, on our own server. Each record holds the page, where you came from, the advertising campaign that brought you if there was one, whether you are on a phone or a desktop, and the random id in the cookie below.

It does not hold your IP address or your browser’s user agent. Those are turned into a one-way hash with a secret that lives outside the database, so a copy of the table identifies nobody. It does not hold your name or your email either, signed in or not.

Why: so we can tell the client how many people used the site and which advertising was worth paying for, without handing that question to a company whose business is knowing who you are.

What you give us on purpose

If you send an enquiry to a private seller, we keep the name, email, phone number and message you typed, so the seller can answer you. If you apply as an agency, we keep what the form asked for, so we can reply. If you sign in with Google, we keep your email address and name, and the listings you save against them. That is the whole list.

We do not sell any of it, and there is no mailing list to be added to.

Who else sees something

Three services, and what each one gets:

Meta, so the client can tell whether a Facebook or Instagram advertisement led to anything. Their script sets its own cookies in your browser. When you complete something — an enquiry, a listing, an agency application, a sign-in, a click through to a partner — our server also tells Meta directly, and that message carries those cookies, your IP address, your browser’s user agent, and your email address as a one-way hash if you gave us one. Meta uses them to recognise the advertisement you came from. This is the one place where something that could identify you leaves our server.

Google Analytics 4, for page views and the same five completions. It sees the pages you looked at and the random id Google’s own cookie gives you, not your name or your email.

Microsoft Clarity, which records how pages are used — where people scroll, what they click, where they get stuck. What you type into the enquiry form and the agency form is masked before it leaves your browser, so a recording shows that a field was filled in, not what was put in it.

Each of these runs after the page is usable, and none of them is loaded at all if you press the button below.

The cookies

NameKept forWhat it is
re_aid1 yearA random id for this browser. Not a name, not an address, not linked to one unless you sign in.
re_sid30 minutes idleGroups one visit together, so three pages read as one visit and not three people.
re_ft1 yearThe campaign or link that first brought you here, so we know which advertising works.
re_ltthe visitThe campaign or link that brought you here this time.
re_dnt1 yearSet only if you press the button below. Its presence is what switches the rest off.

Signing in adds a session cookie, and the services above set cookies of their own under their own names.

The listings themselves

Listing details and photographs belong to the agency and the photographer who made them. We link to the agency’s own page and show photographs from their servers with attribution; we do not copy them. If you are an agency and you want a listing taken down, write to us and it goes.

Do not track me

This sets one cookie in this browser. While it is there: no analytics script is loaded on any page, nothing is sent to the three services above, and the only thing recorded is a page view in our own database with no identifier attached to it at all.

It is per browser, because a cookie is all we have to remember you by — which is rather the point.

Asking us something

To see what we hold about you, to have it deleted, or to complain about any of it, use the contact details on the about page. We will answer.
